Every chart above is built on the State Register of Legal Entities of the Republic of Moldova, not on estimates. How many companies registered and how many closed in a period, how they spread across CAEM sectors, regions and legal forms — the same data you see on a company profile, seen as a whole.
The total company count includes struck-off entities: the register keeps history, not only the present. That is why "active companies" and "companies on the register" are two different numbers, and market analysis needs the first. Likewise, a sudden jump in registrations in one month sometimes follows a change in the law or a tax deadline rather than real business activity.
The source is the registry's official publication on dataset.gov.md, pulled automatically several times a day; financial figures come from the public statements depository. Each section above states the period it covers, because financial data lags registration data: a company appears on the register at once, but its report for last year only becomes public months later.
